Artisan Show and A LOT of Work!

We have taken the plunge and booked a stand at the Artisan show in Warwickshire (Stand F8 for those that would like to come support me)

Having done shows in the past I know that they are a really important way of letting people know I'm here teaching precious metal clay and my demonstrations have always been very good at spreading the metal clay 'word' to those that have only read about it in magazines.

So what's different about this show? Well I will be there promoting my workshops and demonstrating metal clay as I have done very successfully before but this time I have responded to previous requests and 'gone retail' as well!

Especially for the Artisan show I will be selling precious metal clay starter and firing kits and also a few firing tools. The starter kits have all the tools and clay needed to make a precious metal clay pendant. The kits are well thought out, with everthing needed (ok, so you need to have some olive oil!) and include a set of detailed project notes aimed at those who have never used precious metal clay before. I have made the notes a step by step guide with lots of photographs, hints and tips to aid students in creating a beautiful silver pendant and dispel any fears of working with the clay and they make a great and unusual gift too.

Putting the packs together = great fun as it is a step into a new and exciting realm for me + A LOT of hard work!

I do hope you can come and drop in to see a demo, maybe book a workshop and buy a kit  but most of all to say hello :o)

Starting up

What a day! I've taken the plunge and have been working very hard to turn my long standing love of jewellery making into a business, a teaching business.

I've been making jewellery in precious metal clay for a very long time and have senior qualifications in both Art Clay and PMC so now is the time to teach others the skills and techniques I have spent so much time learning and perfecting.

Noone told me it would be easy but I'm not sure anyone told me it would be this time consuming either!

So I have my experience, qualifications, courses, I have my website www.uniquely-yours-jewellery.co.uk (an ecommerce one at that :-) I however don't have any good (preferably free) advertising. So I've spent my day trawling the leisure centres, church halls and libraries locally asking to put posters on their noticeboards advertising my Spetember and October classes and was surprised at some of the responses, leisure centre = yes, library = no!

Oh well I guess to all those that said yes I owe you a big thank you and to the others, humbug!
